Downeys Nissan Laois Intermediate Cross Country Championships 2017
All runners made their way to Abbeyleix for the Day 2 of the Downeys Nissan Cross Country Championships, with the Intermediate and Un-Even Juveniles. Conditions were perfect but for a bit of rain as the Mens race started.
Ballyfin AC had a team of 7 runners out and everyone ran a great race with David O’Mahoney again running a stormer to take the Individual Silver. Liam Buggy was 9th, Tony Cox 14th, John Paul Phelan 21st, Tommy Looney 22nd, Shane Delaney 23rd and Stephen Bland in 24th spot. It was 5 to score in the team event and Ballyfin were the 3rd team home so a great team performance all round again only two weeks since the last race, the Novice.
The Ballyfin Juveniles showed great courage and determination in Abbeyleix – well done to everyone a great effort! Up first was Barry O’Loughlin in the U8 host race. Barry ran a great race coming home in 4th place to earn himself a medal as well inside the top 10. In the U9 Girls Roisín Brennan and Laura McEvoy both ran a great race to finish well up the field in 6th and 9th place. In the U9 Boys Eoin O’Loughlin ran into 5th place and got a medal in top 10. In the U13 Girls Niamh Bland ran a great race to finish in 12th place and in the U13 Boys Sam O’Loughlin ran very well in 17th place.
In the U17 Boys it was great to see Thomas Dunne back out running a fine race. Well done all!
